As an artist, I’m always inspired by new places, fresh ideas, and the ever-evolving conversation between art and the world around us. Next week, I’ll be traveling to Asheville to explore its vibrant museum and gallery scene—an exciting opportunity to experience new creative energy, discover contemporary voices, and gather inspiration from a city known for its thriving arts culture.
Back home in Gulfport, I’m honored to currently have work on view at DRV Gallery in a special exhibition celebrating the spirit, character, and beauty of Gulfport through the eyes of its artists. It’s always meaningful to share work in a community that values creativity and connection.
I’m also excited to announce that I’ll be participating in the PAVA Cool Art Show this July 18–19 at the Coliseum. This long-standing summer event brings together an incredible range of artists, and I look forward to showing new work there.
Lately, my studio practice has been shaped by deeper reflection. I’ve been grappling with how to express concerns about our current political climate—particularly its impact on diversity, inclusion, and the environment. As someone who believes art can be both personal and socially aware, I’m exploring ways to translate these tensions into abstract visual language: movement, fracture, contrast, resilience, and hope.
Art has always been a place where complexity can live without easy answers. My goal is not simply to illustrate issues, but to create work that invites feeling, thought, and conversation.
Thank you for following my journey and supporting independent artists. I’m excited for what’s ahead and look forward to sharing new work inspired by both travel and reflection.
Graciously yours,
Amy Howell
